XAI, the AI company founded by Elon Musk, finds itself at the center of a brewing lawsuit with OpenAI. However, this hasn't deterred it from pushing forward with the release of new products, even on a Friday night. This evening, xAI made a significant announcement. It has started to roll out an upgraded version of its flagship Grok 2 chatbot model to all users on X, the social network that was previously known as Twitter. X, which Musk also owns, often acts as a sort of testing ground for Grok. In a blog post, xAI claims that the enhanced Grok is "three times faster" and offers "improved accuracy, instruction-following, and multi-lingual capabilities."
User Quota and Subscription Benefits
For free users, there is a restriction of only being able to ask Grok ten questions every two hours. But subscribers to X's Premium and Premium+ plans enjoy higher usage limits. This allows them to make more extensive use of the chatbot and access its various features.Adding the "Grok Button"
XAI also announced the addition of a "Grok button" to X tonight. The company states that this button is designed to assist users in discovering "relevant context, understanding real-time events, and delving deeper into trending discussions." It provides an additional tool for users to enhance their interaction with the platform and access more information.Changes to Enterprise API
XAI's API has seen several changes. It now features a pair of new Grok models with better efficiency and multilingual performance. Due to these efficiency gains, the pricing has been adjusted. It has been reduced from $5 per million input tokens (~750,000 words) or $15 per million output tokens to $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. In the coming weeks, xAI's image generation model, Aurora, will also be integrated into the API. Aurora is a largely unfiltered image AI that was released on X this month within the Grok chatbot experience. This addition will provide users with even more capabilities and options on the platform. You May Like
