Doubles Dominance: Jackets Secure Championship Spot

The Georgia Tech women's tennis team started the day strong, with their No. 88-ranked doubles duo of Alejandra Cruz and Given Roach advancing to the title match of flight two. The Jackets secured their spot in the championship with a decisive 6-2 triumph over the Texas Tech pair of Kate Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy. However, they faced a tough challenge in the final, falling to Georgia's Hayden Mulberry and Aysegul Mert, 6-3.The Yellow Jackets also found success in the doubles back draw, with Kate Sharabura and Scarlett Nicholson upending the Clemson duo of Sophia Hatton and Artemis Aslanisvli, 6-1. Meanwhile, Kylie Bilchev and Taly Licht secured a 6-2 victory over Jess Dawson and Grace Thomas of Furman.

Singles Showdown: Jackets Advance to Flight Title Matches

The singles action followed the doubles competition, and two Georgia Tech players emerged victorious, earning spots in their respective flight title matches on Sunday. Alejandra Cruz captured a straight-set win over Georgia's Aysegul Mert, 6-4, 6-4, to secure a place in the flight two final. Taly Licht also impressed, cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kentucky's Tess Bucher in flight seven.In the back draw, Scarlett Nicholson picked up a hard-fought win over Elizabeth Stevens of Kentucky. After taking the first set 6-1, Stevens evened the match by winning the second set 6-4. However, Nicholson remained resilient, prevailing in the deciding set 6-4. She will now face Maria Rizzolo of Mississippi State in the consolation title match of flight four.

In flight three, No. 117 Kate Sharabura fell to Kristina Paskauskas of NC State in a three-set battle, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Additionally, Ginger Foster was defeated by Clemson's Candela Yecora in flight eight, 6-0, 6-1.In the back draw, No. 51 Kylie Bilchev faced a tough opponent in Zoe Hammond of Kentucky, falling 6-2, 6-0 in flight one. Given Roach also fell short in her match against Hayden Mulberry of Georgia, losing 6-7 (1), 7-5, 6-3 in flight five.Despite these challenges, the Georgia Tech women's tennis team showcased their resilience and determination, with several players advancing to title matches and consolation finals.
