The Union College women's tennis team faced off against some formidable opponents over the weekend at the Battle of the Northway tournament, held at Skidmore College's McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center. Despite the tough competition, the Union College women's tennis team managed to secure a couple of victories in singles play. Sophomore Luisa Arizpe-Sierra was leading Siena's Zaara Omar by a 5-2 score before Omar had to retire due to injury. First-year players Samantha Jacobs and Calista Finkelstein also came close to earning victories against the Saints, with Jacobs falling 8-7 (8-6) to Andrea Vargas and Finkelstein narrowly missing out to Camilla Bonini, 8-7 (7-4). Jacobs, however, managed to secure the team's lone win against the Engineers, defeating Anushka Jaiswal by an 8-6 margin.
