Meanwhile, Vestavia Hills’ Luke Bedwell claimed the boys' top singles title for the second year in a row, reinforcing his dominance in the sport.
The Vestavia Hills tennis teams continued their legacy of excellence by reclaiming both the boys' and girls' team championships. The girls' squad triumphed with victories in four singles titles and all three doubles categories, while the boys' team excelled with five individual singles championships and all doubles titles under their belt. This achievement marks four consecutive boys' team titles and two back-to-back championships for the girls. The Vestavia Hills boys, led by coach Oliver Aaron, scored an impressive 57 points, doubling the tally of their closest competitor, Montgomery Academy.
Talent and perseverance were on full display as players like Luke Bedwell and Gabby Barrera achieved personal milestones. Bedwell's victory over Montgomery Academy’s John Alford in the boys' No. 1 singles final exemplified skillful play, winning 6-1, 6-3. In the doubles category, Bedwell teamed up with Louis Kolettis to secure another win against Hoover’s Chen Joiner and Cade Black in a thrilling match. On the girls' side, Barrera maintained her undefeated streak with a decisive win over Huntsville’s Mazie MacGrotty in the finals. Coach Timarie Fisk’s leadership contributed significantly to Vestavia Hills' overall success, ensuring a strong lineup that swept through the competition.
