Two 15-year-old boys have found themselves in a rather precarious situation as they now face criminal charges. This incident occurred when police claim they crashed a stolen car during a chase on the Expressway in Boston, causing significant disruptions to Thursday morning traffic.
Unraveling the Boston Expressway Crash Incident
Initial Incident on Granite Avenue
Around 9 a.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of Granite Avenue in Milton noticed a stolen BMW. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver took a ramp onto the northbound side of Interstate 93, evading the cruiser. This initial act set the stage for a series of events that would unfold.The driver's actions led to a subsequent crash. A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a pickup truck, which was then propelled into a state police cruiser in the area of Exit 13A in Dorchester. The BMW then struck a guardrail on the right side of the highway and finally came to a stop.Consequences and Aftermath
The pair of juveniles, whose identities have been withheld due to their ages, were taken into custody and booked at the state police barracks in South Boston. They are facing charges such as delinquent by reason of receipt of stolen motor vehicle, delinquent by reason of unlicensed operation, and delinquent by reason of negligent operation.The operator of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Thankfully, there were no other reported injuries. Traffic was diverted at Exit 11 and the Neponset onramp for about 20 minutes as crews worked to clear the wreckage. All travel lanes were reopened just after 10 a.m., and traffic began to flow again.At present, it is not immediately clear where the BMW was stolen from.
