Three talented boxers from Rocket City Boxing are all set to make their mark at the highly anticipated USA Boxing Nationals in Richmond, Va. Unleashing the Potential of Rocket City Boxers

Sydney Houston: The Artistic Athlete

Sydney Houston, a 28-year-old stay-at-home mother of two daughters, has an intriguing background. She was a two-time All-State basketball player at Tanner High, helping the Lady Rattlers reach the final four twice and winning a state championship in her freshman year. After a four-year break to focus on her family, she returned to boxing and found a new passion. She now makes a living selling her canvas paintings and doing tattooing. At the Woman's Nationals in August, she posted a 3-0 record and earned a spot at the upcoming USA Boxing Nationals. "I began boxing as a way to exercise and stay in shape. It's given me a new lease on life," she said. When she steps into the ring, her soft motherly side disappears, and she embraces the challenges with excitement.

Her boxing style is graceful, with good footwork and a powerful straight right. She believes boxing has taught her to believe in herself and set an example for her daughters.

Lance Holloway: The Defensive Duelist

Lance Holloway, also 28 years old, is a light-heavyweight with over 30 fights under his belt. He won the last two bouts to qualify for the nationals and has a long jab and great fundamentals. Growing up, he had to defend himself from teasing and confrontations, which made him a natural in the ring. "Boxing has taught me to live and learn about myself. You can't 'play' it; you have to take it seriously," he said.

At the nationals, he will face tough competition with 24 fighters in his bracket. But he is confident and believes he is built to win. His defensive skills, such as slipping punches with good footwork, make him a formidable opponent.

Bradley Belt: The Resilient Fighter

Bradley Belt, 25 years old, is a heavyweight with a 9-2 record and five knockouts. He was a two-sport athlete at Hazel Green High and played basketball at the University of Wyoming before facing a battle with leukemia. Through chemotherapy and determination, he overcame the illness and returned to boxing.

His full-time job is working at Mazda-Toyota alongside Holloway. Boxing gives him a sense of purpose and the rush of victory. "I love boxing. It's a part of me," he said. At the nationals, he is excited to showcase his skills and prove himself.

These three boxers from Rocket City Boxing are ready to shine at the USA Boxing Nationals and inspire others with their stories of perseverance and talent.
