In a noteworthy incident, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office successfully recovered a stolen vehicle following a report from an observant citizen. The event unfolded on Friday afternoon when deputies responded to a complaint about a suspicious white car parked behind a mobile home near Campti. After investigating the vehicle, it was confirmed that the car had been reported stolen several months earlier in Texas. This recovery highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement.

Details of the Recovery

In the golden hues of autumn, the peaceful town of Campti witnessed an unexpected turn of events. Around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, residents in the 5700 block of La. Hwy 480 noticed an unfamiliar white car parked behind a mobile home. Sensing something amiss, a concerned citizen promptly contacted the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO).

Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller and inspected the unoccupied vehicle, which displayed a temporary paper license tag. Further investigation revealed that the car had been reported stolen by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in Texas back in July 2024. After running the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) through the National Crime Information Center, deputies confirmed its status as stolen property.

To ensure proper handling, a tow truck service was contracted to impound the vehicle at a secure location. Authorities are currently notifying the owner while continuing their investigation. The NPSO encourages anyone who may have seen someone driving this car to contact their Criminal Investigations Bureau for further assistance.

This incident underscores the critical role of community involvement in maintaining public safety. It serves as a reminder that alert citizens can make a significant difference in aiding law enforcement efforts. Through vigilance and collaboration, we can create safer communities together.
