The Siouxland community celebrated a triumphant milestone as the third annual Siouxland Food Festival concluded with unprecedented success. This remarkable event, held recently at the Marriott Riverfront in South Sioux City, brought together over 500 attendees who enjoyed culinary offerings from nearly a dozen local vendors. The festival not only delighted taste buds but also raised an impressive $51,496 for the Food Bank of Siouxland, surpassing all previous fundraising records. With this achievement, the Food Bank is better equipped to support food pantries across Northwest Iowa and Northeast Nebraska.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the Marriott Riverfront buzzed with excitement as hundreds gathered for the much-anticipated food festival. Guests sampled delectable dishes crafted by local chefs and restaurants, highlighting the rich culinary talent within the region. Valerie Petersen, Associate Executive Director of the Food Bank of Siouxland, expressed heartfelt gratitude toward the supportive community. She noted that the growing number of visits to food pantries underscores the critical need for such initiatives. The funds raised will significantly bolster the Food Bank's mission to combat hunger in the area.
