Shorewomen Tennis Team Shines at Battle of the Blue Ridge

The Washington College women's tennis team kicked off their fall season with a strong performance at the Battle of the Blue Ridge tournament, held at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center on the campus of Sweet Briar College. The Shorewomen faced off against host Sweet Briar, Guilford, and Piedmont, showcasing their talent and determination on the court.

Dominant Singles Performances

The Shorewomen's singles players delivered impressive results, with Soleil Namunyola leading the charge. Namunyola won two matches, defeating opponents from Guilford (4-0, 4-1) and Piedmont (4-1, 5-4 (10-6)). Gaby Coutts also secured a victory against Guilford, winning 6-2, 6-2, while Isabella Sorhegui picked up a hard-fought 2-4, 4-2, 1-0 (11-9) victory over Piedmont.

Dominant Doubles Performances

The Shorewomen's doubles teams showcased their synergy and teamwork, with Coutts and Carrie Lord earning two wins over Sweet Briar, with scores of 7-6 (7-4) and 6-1. Namunyola and Sorhegui also gained a 6-2 triumph against Piedmont.
