SCAD TVfest Unveils 2026 Program, Featuring "Scrubs" Reunion and "Survivor" Sneak Peek

The SCAD TVfest is preparing for its 14th annual event in Atlanta, scheduled from February 4 to 6, promising a diverse program that celebrates both unscripted and scripted television. Christina Routhier, the senior executive director of SCAD Theaters and Festivals, highlighted the festival's commitment to showcasing influential and popular series, reflecting the current "golden era of television." This year's lineup includes acclaimed shows such as "The Pitt," "Abbott Elementary," "Bridgerton," "Scrubs," "The Comeback," "Survivor," and "The Great American Baking Show," ensuring a wide appeal for various audiences.

A significant highlight of the festival will be the recognition of Quinta Brunson with Variety's Creative Showrunner Award, marking her as the first actor to receive this honor. Brunson, celebrated for her work as the star and creator of ABC's "Abbott Elementary," has a history of breaking barriers, including being the first solo Black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing and the second Black actress to win lead comedy actress in over four decades. Her continued achievements underscore her profound impact on the television landscape. Additionally, the festival will present the Outstanding Achievement in a Series award to "Bridgerton," accepted by Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh, and honor Jeff Probst, host and showrunner of "Survivor," with the Legend of Television award, alongside other distinguished recognitions for Aldis Hodge, Lili Reinhart, and Jackson White.

Beyond the awards, the SCAD TVfest offers an enriching experience for its students, providing a unique platform for them to engage directly with mentors and future collaborators in the film and television industry. The festival's comprehensive schedule, including panels and discussions featuring cast and crew from various shows, aims to inspire and educate the next generation of talent. The return of "Scrubs" for its 10th season, 16 years after its initial conclusion, with Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and creator Bill Lawrence accepting the Cast Award, exemplifies the festival's dedication to celebrating both current successes and enduring legacies in television.

This festival stands as a beacon of artistic and professional development, fostering connections and celebrating creativity within the television industry. By bringing together luminaries and emerging talents, it cultivates an environment where innovation thrives and future generations are inspired to pursue excellence in storytelling.
