Due to construction activities near the Manchester Place station on the Purple Line, four Ride On bus routes have been temporarily rerouted. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has closed Manchester Road north of Wayne Avenue for approximately six weeks, impacting Routes 12, 13, 15, and 19. This closure coincides with a broader schedule adjustment aimed at enhancing efficiency and punctuality across 27 Ride On routes.
The temporary closure of Manchester Road has led to significant changes in the paths taken by several bus routes. Routes 12, 13, 15, and 19 now follow alternate streets, bypassing certain stops and offering new alternatives. These adjustments are designed to maintain service continuity despite the ongoing infrastructure development.
Specifically, Route 12 now detours via Sligo Creek Parkway and Piney Branch Road, while Route 13 uses Three Oaks Drive and Schuyler Road as part of its new route. Route 15 takes an alternative path along Piney Branch Road, and Route 19 now includes Flower Avenue in its revised journey. Each route provides detailed information on the stops that are no longer served and the new ones that passengers can use instead. For instance, passengers traveling on Route 12 will find their usual stops at East Wayne Avenue and Manchester Road replaced with stops at Manchester Road & Wayne Avenue and Flower Avenue & Piney Branch Road.
Passengers using these affected routes should be aware of the updated detour paths and stop locations. Detailed instructions for each route ensure that travelers can easily adapt to the changes. Additionally, the MCDOT has provided comprehensive lists of both bypassed and alternative stops to assist riders during this transition period.
For Route 13, travelers heading to Takoma will now turn left onto Three Oaks Drive, pass through Parkside, and then navigate through Schuyler Road before rejoining the original route. Conversely, those going to Silver Spring will experience a similar detour but in reverse order. Route 15’s detour involves turning right onto Sligo Creek Parkway and continuing on Piney Branch Road until it reconnects with the regular path. Meanwhile, Route 19 introduces a slight modification, especially for the last two PM trips, which will not serve the Three Oaks area. Passengers are encouraged to review the MCDOT website for further details on these changes and any updates related to the construction project.
