It opened its doors on Saturday in the space that was previously home to Tropics Ice Cream & Jerk, which unfortunately closed permanently last year. In September, there was a setback as a Stop Work Order from the county’s Department of Permitting Services temporarily halted construction. However, by our last check in November, the buildout resumed smoothly. Owner Margarita Rodriguez expressed her excitement, saying, “As soon as I saw the news about it closing, I knew I had to take the opportunity! This is a busy road, and I believe people will be drawn to stop here and give our Dominican dishes a try.” She further added, “Silver Spring has a wonderful, diverse community with a great appetite for Dominican cuisine. I understand the struggle of finding good food on the go, which is why I came up with the idea to open a fast-food Dominican carryout.”
