Law enforcement officials in North Lauderdale are seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect involved in a vehicle break-in that resulted in the theft of a firearm. The incident occurred over a month ago, and authorities have released surveillance footage to aid in the investigation. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) has called on residents to come forward with any information that could help locate the individual responsible for this crime.

The burglary took place on December 8th near Southwest Seventh Street in North Lauderdale. Surveillance cameras captured a man attempting to gain entry into a 2021 Jeep Cherokee. Investigators noted that the suspect, believed to be approximately 30 years old, was dressed in dark clothing, including a black hair cap, blue long-sleeve shirt, black pants, dark shoes, and a white glove on his right hand. The footage shows the suspect opening the vehicle's trunk before moving to the passenger side, where he rummaged through the interior. It is during this time that the handgun was reportedly taken.

Local detectives are emphasizing the importance of community involvement in solving this case. They have provided multiple channels for individuals to submit tips anonymously, including a dedicated app and a hotline. Those who provide crucial information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
