A customer's encounter with a hazardous pothole outside a popular fast-food restaurant has sparked calls for the establishment to address both the infrastructure issue and the resulting damages. Nakirsha Edwards, a patron of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen located on Greenwell Springs Road, encountered an unforeseen challenge while exiting the premises one evening in November. The pothole, situated in the driveway linking Popeyes to Monterrey Drive, caught Edwards off guard during her departure around 8 p.m., leading to significant damage to her vehicle.
Following the incident, Edwards noticed smoke emanating from her car, prompting her to seek professional assistance. Upon inspection, it was discovered that her vehicle had sustained a broken radiator and front bumper, with repair costs totaling approximately $6,500. Although her insurance covered most of the expenses, Edwards was still required to pay a $500 deductible out-of-pocket. Since then, Edwards has made repeated attempts to contact management at the restaurant to discuss responsibility for the damaged driveway. Despite efforts to reach the District Manager via text message, no response has been forthcoming as of this report’s publication.
Edwards is urging the restaurant owners to cover her deductible and rectify the problematic area to prevent similar incidents. Operated by High Noon Restaurant Group LLC, this particular Popeyes location is part of a larger network spanning Louisiana and Mississippi. This situation highlights the importance of maintaining safe public spaces and responding promptly to concerns raised by customers, ensuring trust and safety within the community.
