Pokemon Go is marking its tenth anniversary with a special event running from July 4th to 6th, offering an array of exclusive perks and challenges. This celebratory period reintroduces fan-favorite costumed Pokemon and significantly boosts the chances of encountering shiny variants. Trainers can look forward to substantial in-game bonuses designed to enhance their gameplay experience during this limited-time celebration.
A major highlight of the anniversary festivities is the reappearance of shiny Gimmighoul, available from July 4th at 10 AM until July 31st at 11:59 PM local time. Additionally, Gimmighoul will debut a special '10th Anniversary Coin' costume, exclusive to this event. The event also coincides with Sobble Community Day on July 4th, from 2 PM to 5 PM, providing an excellent opportunity to maximize the benefits of both events.
Participants will enjoy quadruple XP and Stardust for catching Pokemon, making it an ideal time for progression. Event-themed Pokemon will have a higher likelihood of being shiny, adding to the excitement of discovery. Furthermore, evolving Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise during this period will grant them their exclusive legacy moves: Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon, respectively. Shiny Gimmighoul sightings from Coin Bags are also more probable, and the 10th Anniversary Gimmighoul might even feature a unique background.
The anniversary event includes a paid Timed Research for $1.99, which players must complete before the event concludes to claim all its rewards. This research involves a series of tasks, such as catching 10 Pokemon, making 10 nice throws, and evolving 10 Pokemon, among others. Successful completion yields significant rewards, including a Gimmighoul with the 10th Anniversary coin, 10,000 Stardust, and a Super Incubator.
Beyond the paid research, players can also engage in Field Research tasks obtained by spinning PokeStops. These tasks offer encounters with special costumed Pokemon, such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle with party hats, or Pikachu wearing a cake hat, upon catching 10 Pokemon or powering them up 10 times.
During the event, various costumed Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild, including party hat versions of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee, and Wurmple, alongside cake hat Pikachu. Other boosted spawns include Caterpie, Voltorb, and Hisuian Voltorb. These specific costumed Pokemon also have an increased shiny rate, offering trainers more chances to add these rare variants to their collection.
This anniversary event is a comprehensive celebration, offering a wealth of content for trainers to enjoy. From enhanced shiny odds and XP gains to exclusive research and costumed Pokemon, the event provides numerous incentives for players to actively participate and make the most of the festivities.
