Piedmont High School's girls tennis team capped off their regular season with an impressive 6-1 victory over Bishop O'Dowd on October 29th. The Highlanders finished the season with an overall record of 10-10 and a 5-3 mark in the West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division, positioning them well for a potential postseason run.

The Highlanders showcased their depth and talent in the singles matches, with standout performances across the board. Carolina Romanczuk, the team's No. 1 singles player, defeated Ashley Carroll in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. At the No. 2 spot, Kate Jumper battled through a tough match against Diya Shah, emerging victorious with a 7-6 (10), 6-1 triumph. Faith Chin continued the Highlanders' dominance, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ileana Adams at No. 4 singles. The No. 2 doubles team of Emma Chan and Maddie Tran also secured a victory, besting Lauren Choi and Penny Wong, 6-4, 6-2. Piedmont High School's head coach, Jim Landes, expressed his confidence in the team's ability to make a strong postseason push. "We might get a chance to avenge some of our non-league losses," Landes said, referring to tough defeats against Lick-Wilmerding, University, and Marin Academy. "I believe we have a good chance against any of those three."The West Alameda County Conference tournament is scheduled for November 8-9, and the North Coast Section team playoffs are set to begin on November 12.
