Prepare for strategic insights and tactical advice to successfully navigate this challenging mission and unlock valuable in-game abilities.
The quest commences in Eastern Kyoto, following a rigorous training session led by Takamura, as Miyamoto Musashi is tasked with eradicating genma. Near the Rokudo-chinnoji Temple, Musashi overhears villagers discussing the miraculous powers of the Yasui Konpiragu Shrine. Intrigued, he begins his investigation. The initial phase involves visiting the shrine and engaging with various non-player characters (NPCs) to gather vital information. Musashi first encounters a Calm Woman, then an Elderly Timer, and finally inspects two dolls on the shrine's eastern side. These interactions lead him to Yorimasa's monument and subsequently to the Hachidai Rikison Shrine, located within the Yasui Konpiragu Shrine. Here, he discovers that three Stout Pillars have been stolen, setting the stage for the next crucial part of his mission.
The next objective is to locate and retrieve the three stolen Stout Pillars. Musashi exits the Yasui Konpiragu Shrine and heads towards a building situated between two others, east of the shrine. The first pillar is found atop a bamboo platform on the eastern side of this area, guarded by genma. After defeating them, Musashi follows a corridor northeast, which leads behind the large building to a ladder. Climbing this ladder, he discovers the Seventh Stout Pillar in an elevated position. Upon returning to the entrance where the genma were first encountered, more enemies appear from a southern building. Musashi defeats them and uses the breach they created to enter the building. Inside, he navigates north to a small room containing another ladder. Before ascending, he collects a millet from a body. Climbing the ladder brings him to an attic where he battles more genma, crawls under a structure, and finds the First Stout Pillar. As he retrieves it, another group of genma attacks. With two pillars secured, Musashi proceeds southwest towards the final pillar. Along the way, he might encounter random events, such as saving a villager from genma, which, while not directly part of the main quest, offer useful material rewards for upgrades.
Inside the final building, Musashi can explore a small northern room for a soul squeezer. His primary goal, however, is to head south, where he finds a lesser defense talisman on a corpse. Opening a white door, he confronts more enemies in the next room. Exiting through a door on the left, he reaches an area with multiple vases. Breaking the vase near a tree reveals the Third Stout Pillar, completing the retrieval task.
With all three Stout Pillars recovered, Musashi returns to the Hachidai Rikison Shrine. The Stout Pillars request his assistance in purifying the Yasui Konpiragu Shrine. Before purification, Musashi must absorb a dark mass, triggering a cutscene that leads directly to a battle with Rasho-Gan, the quest's boss. Rasho-Gan possesses two life bars, and the fight unfolds in three distinct stages. In the first stage, the primary strategy is to use the bow to sever the tether connecting Rasho-Gan to a pillar behind them. The second stage begins once Rasho-Gan's first life bar is depleted, and the third stage is marked by the boss entering a buffed state, indicated by their sword glowing red. Throughout the fight, Rasho-Gan employs a variety of attacks, including regular sword strikes, a charging move with a large overhead sword, projectile attacks, and a grapple. Players must be vigilant for two special moves: when Rasho-Gan raises multiple arms to create a sphere above their head, which can be destroyed with an arrow, and when they lift a building with a tether, which can be turned against them by shooting the tether. Mastering these mechanics is key to victory. Defeating Rasho-Gan concludes the 'Careful What You Wish For' quest, rewarding Musashi with two hempen cloths, one power stone, and one oni stone, and crucially, unlocking his first Oni Power: Oni Strength, which allows him to break malice barriers.
This quest, 'Careful What You Wish For,' offers players a thrilling blend of exploration, combat, and strategic decision-making. Through Miyamoto Musashi's efforts, the mystery surrounding the Yasui Konpiragu Shrine is unraveled, and powerful abilities are gained, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
