"Rebels' Bahamas Victory: A Homecoming and a Statement"

Opening with a Dominant Win

The Rebels opened their time in the Continental Tire Baha Mar Championship with a resounding 92 - 55 victory over Boston College on Monday. This marked not only the most points scored by the Rebels so far this season but also the sixth consecutive campaign with at least one 90 - point performance. Five Ole Miss players reached double - digit point totals, led by Kennedy Todd - Williams with 17 points and Sira Thienou with 16. As a team, they shot an impressive 51.4 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from three. By the end of the first quarter, they held a 20 - 8 advantage over Boston College, and this lead grew to 41 - 23 at halftime. In contrast, Boston College shot 36.7 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three. This win not only improved the Rebels' record to 4 - 1 but also dealt a blow to Boston College, who fell to 6 - 2.

Todd - Williams expressed her thoughts postgame, saying, "The defense is growing. As a team, we're starting to buy in. There are some things we need to clean up, but jumping on them first and holding them to eight points is quite impressive. We just have to keep building, and it's only going to get better from here."

Coach McPhee - McCuin's Homecoming

Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee - McCuin is a native of The Bahamas, making this trip a homecoming of sorts. She expressed her gratitude, saying, "Just grateful to be back home in the 242. We always try to represent. This wasn't initially on our schedule, but when Bahama Hoops had an opening and thought enough of what we've done and my love for my country, they asked us to come back home. It meant a lot."

This win holds special significance for the Rebels as they not only won in their coach's home country but also shut down a Boston College team that had been on a winning streak. McPhee - McCuin said, "Boston College came in red - hot with one loss, kicking everybody's butts. We knew we had to come out intentional, and once we felt in control, it was just a game within a game. We focused on where we're trying to go and the type of team we want to be in the long run."

Looking Ahead to the Final

With this impressive win under their belts, the Ole Miss Rebels will face either UConn or Oregon State on Wednesday in the final game of the tournament. The team will be looking to continue their winning momentum and make a strong statement on the national stage.
