Northwood University is taking a significant step by establishing the Fast Break Club, aiming to provide a strong foundation of support for its Women's Basketball team. This initiative is set to bring together alumni, faculty, and friends in a unified effort to ensure the continued growth and success of the program.
Empowering Women's Basketball at Northwood University
Building a Community of Supporters
Northwood Athletic Development Officer Leonard Haynes emphasizes the importance of this life-long relationship of support. "Our mission is to engage everyone who cares about Northwood University Women's Basketball and create a community that believes in the potential of our student-athletes. It's not just about financial contributions; it's about being part of something bigger."Autumn Haggadone, the Women's Basketball Head Coach, adds, "The Fast Break Club is about more than just funding. It's about building a sense of belonging and pride among our supporters. When we come together, we can truly elevate the program to new levels."Providing Sustainable Financial Support
The primary goal of the Fast Break Club is to bridge the annual operating budget gap compared to other successful mid-size university women's basketball programs. Haynes explains, "By providing meaningful financial support, we can ensure that our student athletes, coaches, and staff have the resources they need to maximize their potential. This includes additional scholarships, staffing for better coaching and training, and funds for recruiting to bring in top talent."Proceeds from the club will also go towards creating a reserve fund for deferred projects, ensuring the long-term stability of the program. "We want to be able to invest in the future of Northwood Women's Basketball and have the resources available when needed," says Haynes.Donor-Friendly Program with Flexibility
The Fast Break Club offers opportunities to participate at different levels, allowing donors to contribute according to their means. Coach Haggadone notes, "We understand that everyone can make a difference, and our donor-friendly program provides the flexibility to do so. Whether it's a one-time donation or a recurring gift, every contribution counts."In addition, gifts to the Fast Break Club are 100% tax deductible, making it a win-win for both the donors and the program.
