New Leadership for US Rice Producers Association

The U.S. Rice Producers Association (USRPA) has recently undergone a significant leadership transition, welcoming new figures to key positions within its board of directors and executive team. This strategic realignment aims to bolster the organization's mission and future initiatives, particularly in promoting and advancing the interests of rice producers across the nation.

Forging a New Path: USRPA's Evolving Leadership Landscape

Strategic Appointments to the USRPA Board of Directors

At its recent summer assembly held in Galveston, Texas, the U.S. Rice Producers Association made pivotal decisions regarding its leadership. Eric Hover, a prominent rice farmer hailing from Harviell, Missouri, was chosen to lead the board as its new chairman. He assumes this role following the successful two-year tenure of Neal Stoesser, a respected producer from Raywood, Texas. Complementing this change, Mark Pousson, a rice producer and shipper from Welsh, Louisiana, was elected as the vice chairman, while Galen Franz from Victoria, Texas, took on the responsibilities of secretary-treasurer. These appointments signify a renewed direction for the association's governance.

Transition at the Helm: A New CEO for USRPA

Further reshaping the organization's executive structure, Marcela Garcia, the outgoing president and CEO, revealed her decision to transition into a strategic advisory role, effective September 1. This move, carefully orchestrated over the past year, is designed to ensure a seamless leadership transition and foster continued organizational strength. Garcia expressed immense pride and enthusiasm in announcing Mollie Buckler as her successor for the President and CEO position. Buckler's deep-rooted agricultural background, particularly in rice cultivation from the Missouri Bootheel, combined with her extensive experience and passion for the association's objectives, make her an ideal choice for the role.

Mollie Buckler's Ascent and Future Vision

Mollie Buckler's journey within the USRPA has been marked by steady progression since joining in 2021 and subsequently becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2022. A distinguished alumna of the University of Missouri, Buckler's residence in Sikeston, Missouri, positions her as the first USRPA CEO to be based directly within the Delta rice-producing region. Her leadership is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective and direct regional insight to the association's operations. Marcela Garcia will continue to contribute to the USRPA's key endeavors, including the highly successful annual Rice Market & Technology Convention, which attracted over 500 industry participants in Miami last May, and other significant international initiatives.
