A significant change is coming to the Dallas ISD football scene. The district confirmed Wednesday evening that Jason Garrett will transition from his current role at Roosevelt to take on the head coaching position at Skyline High School. This move marks a pivotal moment in Garrett's career, showcasing his growing influence and expertise within the world of high school athletics.
Garrett brings an impressive background to Skyline, having previously served as an assistant coach with stints at both DeSoto and Duncanville. During these periods, he contributed significantly to three state championship-winning teams. From 2014 to 2018, he played a key role in DeSoto’s success as the defensive pass game coordinator. Later, he moved to Duncanville in 2021, where he focused on the run game coordination. These experiences have shaped him into a versatile and strategic leader ready to lead Skyline forward.
As Garrett steps into this new chapter, it reflects not only his personal achievements but also highlights the importance of strong leadership in sports programs. Replacing Jacody Coleman, whose tenure saw challenges over the past few seasons, Garrett enters with fresh perspectives and proven strategies. His previous year at Roosevelt, despite its record, provided valuable lessons that he plans to leverage at Skyline. With such dedication and experience, there's optimism about what lies ahead for the Skyline team under Garrett's guidance.
