Strengthening Defense Production with Nammo's Expansion

Expansion and Government Initiative

Nammo's new facility is part of a larger government initiative aimed at bolstering domestic defense production capabilities. The Ministry of Defense has entered into a 15-year agreement worth NOK1.083 billion (approximately $98 million) with Nammo. This agreement will support increased production readiness and ensure a steady supply of critical defense equipment. In addition to Nammo's expansion, the Norwegian government has taken several significant steps. They have co-financed the EU's ASAP program and allocated approximately NOK 3 billion ($271 million) to increase production capacity. Furthermore, NOK 967 million ($87 million) has been earmarked to strengthen Norwegian defense industries specifically.

Long-Term Contracts and International Support

To ensure a stable supply of critical defense equipment, long-term contracts have been signed with key industry players like Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace and Nammo AS. These contracts provide a sense of security and reliability in the defense supply chain.Norway has also shown its international support by committing to a NOK500 million ($45 million) investment in Ukraine's defense industry.
