The road construction in Amarillo seems to have an unending presence. While some of it is justified, there are instances that leave us bewildered. Take Bell Road, for instance; where did this construction suddenly emerge and what is its purpose? In some areas, the construction is of poor quality or seems to be lacking proper planning. Just look at West Plains High School; the chaos there is quite evident.
Improving Navigability and Safety
The authorities are taking steps to address these issues and make it easier to navigate the area. Recent work in the area around West Plains High School has caused significant disruptions in movement. However, a new turnaround is being constructed between Arden and Hillside on the Loop. This turnaround is designed to alleviate the congestion that has been building up and enhance safety. It will also provide a new route to the school, offering more options for commuters.Enhanced Traffic Flow
There will be long deceleration and acceleration lanes installed as part of this project. These lanes will ensure that everyone can reach the appropriate speed and slow down smoothly, facilitating the smooth flow of traffic through the area. It is expected that this will have a positive impact on the congestion at Hillside as well. The work is currently in progress and is expected to be completed by early January. This is a much-needed relief for the local residents and commuters.Addressing Dangerous Intersections
Traffic in Amarillo is a concern, and some intersections are particularly troublesome. These intersections pose a higher risk of accidents and require attention. If there are any other Amarillo collision hotspots that we have missed, we encourage people to share their experiences. By adding more to this list, we can work together to make the roads safer.Gallery Credit: Sarah ClarkWeird Signs On Coulter
