Uniting to End Holiday Food Insecurity in Mid-Michigan

Food Bank's Impact and Current Needs

Nearly 100,000 Mid-Michiganders face the harsh reality of food insecurity, with a staggering 22,290 children among them. This means that 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 children within GLFB's service area of Clare, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Isabella, Gratiot, and Shiawassee counties are struggling. Last year witnessed the largest increase in the food insecurity rate since 2008. The Greater Lansing Food Bank is currently serving an average of nearly 18,000 households each month, showing the immense demand for their assistance. Food insecurity is not bound by a specific season, but the holidays often add unexpected and additional expenses, making it even more difficult for families to make ends meet. Many families find themselves in a vulnerable position during this time, in need of that extra support.

The work of the Greater Lansing Food Bank is crucial in addressing this issue. They are on the front lines, providing a lifeline to those who are struggling. By donating to the food bank, you can make a significant difference in the lives of these families. Every contribution counts and can help alleviate the burden of food insecurity.
