The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team kicked off their 2024 fall season with a series of competitive matches against the Tennessee Volunteers and Lipscomb Bisons at the Blue Raider Invite. The event, held at the MTSU Outdoor Tennis Facility and later moved indoors to the Adams Tennis Complex, showcased the Blue Raiders' determination and resilience as they faced off against formidable opponents.

Doubles Dominance: Volunteers Claim Early Victories

The day began with the doubles matches, where the Tennessee Volunteers showcased their prowess. The UT duo of Alan Jesudason and Shunsuke Mitsui bested Middle Tennessee's Jakub Kroslak and Rostislav Halfinger 6-2, while the team of Jose Garcia and Lance Nisbet defeated the Blue Raiders' Kristian Thomas and Igor Mandou Berranger 6-4. Despite the early setbacks, the Blue Raiders remained determined to turn the tide in the singles matches.

Singles Showdown: Volunteers Maintain Unbeaten Streak

In the singles competition, the Volunteers continued their dominance, securing straight-set victories in the first, second, fourth, and fifth seeded matchups. Shunsuke Mitsui of Tennessee defeated Jakub Kroslak of Middle Tennessee 6-4, 6-2, while Alejandro Moreno of UT bested Igor Mandou Berranger of MTSU 6-2, 6-3. The Volunteers' Jose Garcia and Alan Jesudason also emerged victorious in their respective matches against Murillo Burckhardt of Tennessee Tech and Rostislav Halfinger of Middle Tennessee.
