Macau Grand Prix Attracts Top Talent from FIA Formula 3 and Formula Regional Series

The upcoming Macau Grand Prix has generated significant interest among drivers from the FIA Formula 3 and Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) series. Several race winners and frontrunners from these junior single-seater categories have confirmed their participation in the prestigious event, which is set to feature a new Formula Regional machinery for the 2024 edition.

FIA Formula 3 Racers Seek Macau Glory

The Macau Grand Prix has traditionally been a showcase for FIA Formula 3 cars, but the decision to switch to Formula Regional machinery for the 2024 edition has not deterred a host of this year's F3 racers from entering the event. Among the notable names are championship frontrunners Oliver Goethe and Dino Beganovic, both of whom will be looking to add the Macau title to their growing list of achievements.Goethe, a Red Bull junior, finished seventh in the F3 standings this season, opting to skip the Monza finale to instead make his Formula 2 debut with MP Motorsport. The young German will now continue with the Dutch squad for another Macau attack, having finished ninth in last year's edition of the race.Ferrari Driver Academy member Beganovic, meanwhile, will return to Prema for the Macau event, where he will be aiming to improve on his fourth-place finish in 2023. Rounding out the F3 race winners signed up for the event is Mari Boya, who will be representing Pinnacle Motorsport.

Formula Regional Drivers Bring Additional Talent to Macau

The entry list for the 2024 Macau Grand Prix also features a strong contingent of drivers from the Formula Regional European Championship. These include the series' current second and third-placed drivers, James Wharton (ART) and Tuukka Taponen (R-ace), who will be looking to showcase their skills on the challenging Macau circuit.Alongside the established FRECA competitors, the event will also welcome the arrival of Italian F4 dominator Freddie Slater, who is currently tackling the final shootout for the prestigious Silverstone Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. The Macau Grand Prix entry list is further bolstered by the presence of several Japanese drivers, including Super Formula Lights race winners Rikuto Kobayashi and Jin Nakamura, both of whom will be representing the TOM'S team.The inclusion of these talented young drivers from various single-seater championships underscores the enduring appeal and prestige of the Macau Grand Prix.
