The LPGA is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season as it announces a record-breaking $131 million in purse money. This marks a significant 90% increase since 2021, showcasing the continued growth of the women's golf circuit. With a 33-event schedule spanning from January to November, golfers will have numerous opportunities to compete and showcase their skills.
Tournament Highlights and New Stops
The season kicks off with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando from January 30 - February 2. It then concludes with the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples from November 20 - 23. Among the notable additions is the Black Desert Championship in Ivins, Utah, from May 1 - 4, and a return to Cancun, Mexico, for the Riviera Maya Open three weeks later. This will be the first LPGA tournament in Cancun since 2017, adding to the excitement.The LPGA will hold tournaments in 14 U.S. states and 11 other countries, providing a global stage for the players. There are two multievent Asian swings in the spring and fall and a European swing in the summer, ensuring a diverse and challenging schedule.Enhanced Player Benefits
In addition to the increased purses, 24 events will offer golfers travel stipends, free accommodations, and/or guaranteed minimum payouts. This shows the LPGA's commitment to enhancing the athlete experience. The CME Group Tour Championship will have an $11 million purse, with $4 million going to the winner, setting a new record for the largest single prize in women's golf history.Major Championships and Other Events
The five major championships will offer $47 million in prize money. The Chevron Championship in The Woodlands, Texas, kicks off the major season from April 24 - 27. The U.S. Women's Open will be played at Erin Hills in Wisconsin for the first time from May 29 - June 1, followed by the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at the PGA of America headquarters in Frisco, Texas, from June 19 - 22. The Amundi Evian Championship in France is scheduled for July 10 - 13, and the major season wraps up three weeks later with the AIG Women's Open in Wales.The Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown, a 32-player, match-play team event, makes a comeback after a one-year hiatus at New Korea Country Club in late October. LPGA golfers will also compete with PGA players in the Grant Thornton Invitational in December.These events offer a diverse range of challenges and opportunities for the LPGA players, highlighting the growth and importance of the circuit.
