The Adirondack Rednecks' Polar Plunge - A Season of Giving

Team's Polar Plunge Experience

On November 23rd, these 11 athletic-minded souls braved the cold waters of Lake George. The event saw over 1,500 plungers coming together to support a great cause. Schools, businesses, law enforcement teams, and our local Adirondack Redneck Special Olympics team were all part of this amazing gathering. The Viscardo Family, led by Erik Viscardo, played a crucial role in encouraging our team to be a part of this celebration. Two coaches, a unified partner, and an athlete joined forces with the Viscardo family. It was a sight to behold as they took on the Polar Plunge together. This act of unity and determination not only showed their commitment to the cause but also inspired others. The local community came forward to support them, and local businesses like Belvedere Restaurant, Downhill Grill, Grand Union, Romano’s, and the Schlosser Family Foundation also donated. Their efforts led to the Adirondack Rednecks raising over $3,800! This is a remarkable achievement that will continue to inspire others in the years to come.

Year-round Training and Community Impact

Our local Special Olympic Team is dedicated to providing year-round sports opportunities. They train in various sports including bowling, snowshoeing, softball, and bocce. You can find them at Romano’s every Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. till June. During the winter, they will be at Dewey on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. By participating in these sports, they not only improve their physical health but also build friendships and a sense of community. If you know someone who would benefit from year-round sport and health programs, encourage them to join our team. The joy of sport, the joy of friendship, and the joy of team is truly JOYOUS for all. It is through these efforts that we make a positive impact on the lives of those around us.The Adirondack Rednecks are not just a team; they are a symbol of hope and unity. Their story will continue to inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their communities.
