Epic Games is making a significant move by splitting LEGO Fortnite into two distinct parts. One of these, LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, draws inspiration from GTA Online and is set to launch within Fortnite on December 12, 2024. This new mode is described as a "social roleplay experience" that allows players to live out their dream lives in the digital city of Brick Bay. With 32-player lobbies available freely, players can interact with one another in this evolving city, engaging in various minigames that promote social interaction.

Similarities to GTA Online

LEGO Fortnite Brick Life plays very similarly to GTA Online. Just like in GTA Online, players in LEGO Fortnite Brick Life will be able to buy and decorate their homes. They can also start a job and ensure they are constantly interacting with others. For instance, one can be a courier, delivering parcels to citizens, or a Bobom Milk Tea Bobarista, serving delicious refreshments to tourists. These jobs are not passive; an in-game phone will notify players of new opportunities. If they wish to change their job, there is no penalty. Additionally, players can redecorate their homes using a build mode that is not too dissimilar from that in Fortnite Battle Royale.

Another aspect that ties LEGO Fortnite Brick Life to GTA Online is the ability to chat with other players directly while exploring the city. Epic is overhauling how chat works in Fortnite, enabling players to send direct messages and chat with everyone in a public channel.

Compatible Items and Free Outfits

Some items unlocked from other modes in LEGO Fortnite will be compatible with Brick Life. This means that the Jam Tracks sitting in your locker can be used to interact with other citizens of Brick Bay. Players can also get some free LEGO Fortnite outfits to kickstart their Brick Bay adventure. If you play Fortnite Mobile and earn enough XP, you'll unlock the Chord Kahele Outfit in Brick Life. Alternatively, by linking your Epic Games and LEGO accounts, you can unlock the Mr. Dappermint Outfit and the Explorer Emilie Outfit. These outfits are sure to help you make a dramatic entrance at the Rooftop Club opening party on December 18.

The month of December is filled with a lot of activities in Fortnite. After the launch of Chapter 6 Season 1, Epic is adding a first-person competitive mode called Fortnite Ballistic. All these updates are expected to be enough to compete with Marvel Rivals, another popular multiplayer game that crossed ten million players in its launch week.
