Classmates Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton will both be unavailable for tonight's game. According to the Big Ten's availability report released this afternoon, neither player has had a significant role early in the 2024-25 campaign. Cupps was listed as questionable against South Carolina and did dress for the game, but he never saw the floor. He played in the first two games but has yet to score a point this season. The nature of his injury or other reason for being out remains unclear at this point.
Newton, on the other hand, is listed as out for the second straight game. Head coach Mike Woodson said last week that Newton is dealing with a hamstring injury. He has played in one game and scored two points.
Fifth-year senior guard Anthony Leal, who has not played yet this season, is in uniform. This gives the team some depth and options as they prepare to take on UNC Greensboro.
