July brought two pivotal leadership appointments within the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. David Bausman has assumed the role of general counsel, bringing more than 12 years of state government experience from his previous positions at ISDA and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. In this capacity, Bausman will serve as the chief legal advisor for the agency, manage ISDA's public affairs team, and spearhead efforts to develop the Agricultural Portal, a key legislative priority. He will also act as the lieutenant governor's proxy for the Environmental Rules Board, ensuring robust representation on critical environmental policy discussions. Concurrently, Andrew Sherman has been promoted to director of the Economic Development Division, following his successful tenure as the International Trade director for the agency. Sherman is now tasked with leading and executing ISDA's comprehensive strategy for business retention, expansion, and attraction, which includes cultivating partnerships with state, regional, and local economic development organizations. He will also continue to represent ISDA on several prominent export advisory councils, such as the Indiana District Export Council, the Indiana Small Business Development Center, the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
