On Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Humane Pennsylvania's Reading Campus at 1729 N. 11th St., Reading, PA 19604, becomes a gathering place for pet food donations. This campus is at the forefront of the effort to provide one million meals to pets across Berks and Lancaster counties and beyond. By bringing your pet food donations here, you are directly helping families keep their beloved pets.
Spike’s Pet Food Pantry at the Reading Campus has been a lifeline for many families, ensuring that no one has to give up their pet due to lack of resources. The dedicated team at Humane Pennsylvania is working tirelessly to make this donation drive a success and reach the goal of one million meals.
Just a short drive away, the Lancaster Campus at 2195 Lincoln Hwy. E., Lancaster, PA 17602, also opens its doors on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the donation drive. This campus is equally committed to the cause and welcomes pet food donations from the community. It serves as a symbol of compassion and giving, showing that together, we can make a difference in the lives of pets.
With the help of the Lancaster community, Spike’s Pet Food Pantry at this campus has been able to gather a significant amount of pet food. In 2024 alone, they accomplished an amazing feat by gathering 241,979 pounds of pet food, which is equivalent to 967,916 meals for pets in need. Now, with the goal of one million meals within reach, every donation counts.
From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at both the Reading and Lancaster campuses, pet owners have the opportunity to have their photos taken with Santa. Instead of a photo fee, participants are encouraged to bring a pet food donation as their contribution. This not only makes for a fun and memorable experience but also helps to support the No Pet Hungry: Million Pet Meal Challenge.
It's a great way to bring the holiday spirit and the joy of giving together. By participating in this event, you are not only creating lasting memories with your pets but also helping to feed those in need. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.
