Awaited with great anticipation, the Fletch Racing team is set to unveil their latest racing marvel at the upcoming NHRA American Rebel Light Nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina. This event will mark the debut of a 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet designed specifically for NHRA competition. Built by Watson Engineering and assembled meticulously by True Street Motorsports, the car aims to compete fiercely in the Factory Super Stock B class. With an impressive power output exceeding 1400 horsepower, driven by a 317 cubic inch Coyote engine boosted by a 3.0 litre Whipple supercharger, the vehicle is equipped with Holley EFI technology. Driver Jory Elliott expresses optimism following successful test runs that showcased speeds nearing 170 mph within the low 8-second range. The goal for this season extends beyond individual race victories, aiming for strong finishes to accumulate points towards National and Divisional Championships.

For nearly a year, Fletch Racing has been preparing this cutting-edge machine. The new Mustang Cobra Jet was constructed in Detroit, Michigan, under the expert hands of Watson Engineering. Subsequently, it underwent detailed assembly, including its engine, at True Street Motorsports in McKinney, Texas. This collaboration ensured the vehicle's readiness for one of drag racing's most competitive categories. The powerhouse behind its speed lies in the combination of its advanced engine design and state-of-the-art supercharging technology. All systems are integrated into the latest Holley EFI system, giving the team unprecedented control over data analysis and tuning strategies.

Jory Elliott, a second-generation racer known for his recent championship win in the FSS/A class at Gainesville Raceway, will take the wheel of this powerful vehicle. His experience driving the previous Fletch Racing 2012 Cobra Jet Mustang contributed significantly to the team's success in 2024, where they achieved a commendable 20-11 round record. Elliott's confidence in the new car's potential reflects his excitement about continuing the winning streak into 2025. The team’s aspirations extend beyond individual race wins, focusing on accumulating points through consistent performances throughout the season.

Beyond the driver, the Fletch Racing team benefits from the expertise of Hall of Fame driver "Bogus" Bob Elliott as their Super Stock Crew Chief. Known for his achievements in Funny Car racing during the late 20th century, Bob brings invaluable experience to the team. Founded in 2024, Fletch Racing has quickly established itself as a formidable competitor across various drag racing circuits. Their current lineup includes entries in both NHRA Super Stock and Modified classes, alongside a Junior Dragster team, highlighting their commitment to nurturing talent at all levels.

As the NHRA American Rebel Light Nationals approaches, all eyes will be on Fletch Racing and their new Mustang Cobra Jet. The combination of advanced technology, experienced personnel, and a proven track record positions them well for a successful campaign. Fans can expect thrilling performances and perhaps a few surprises as this dynamic team pushes the boundaries of what's possible in competitive drag racing.
