The University of Alabama's student-led organization, UA Miracle, has once again made headlines with its remarkable fundraising efforts. This year, the group raised an impressive $223,725 during their annual 12-hour dance marathon, BAMAthon. The funds will directly support Children’s of Alabama, the state’s only freestanding pediatric hospital. Through a year-long series of events and activities, UA Miracle has not only raised vital funds but also fostered a deep connection between students and the families they serve.

Transforming Lives, One Dance at a Time

UA Miracle: A Student-Driven Force for Change

The University of Alabama's largest student-led philanthropy, UA Miracle, has been making waves since its establishment in 2011. Over the past decade, this dedicated group has amassed over $3 million to support Children’s of Alabama. Each contribution goes directly toward enhancing child life services, pastoral care, and educational programs within the hospital. Hayden Phillips, the current president of UA Miracle, emphasizes the importance of these initiatives. "Our donations ensure that children can maintain a sense of normalcy while undergoing treatment," he explains. "Seeing the impact firsthand is truly inspiring."

BAMAthon: A Celebration of Community and Compassion

BAMAthon stands as the pinnacle event of UA Miracle's calendar. Held annually at the UA Student Center, this 12-hour dance marathon brings together more than 1,000 participants who are united by a common goal: supporting pediatric patients. The event features performances from the Million Dollar Band, a talent show showcasing Miracle Kids, and heartfelt stories from families who have benefited from the organization's efforts. "It's an incredible experience to witness the joy and resilience of these children," Phillips shares. "They remind us why we do what we do."

Year-Round Commitment to Pediatric Advocacy

While BAMAthon garners much attention, UA Miracle's impact extends far beyond this single day. Throughout the year, the organization hosts various fundraising events, including restaurant percentage nights, golf tournaments, and galas. These activities not only raise essential funds but also increase awareness about pediatric illness and injury. "We have a unique opportunity to make a difference," Phillips notes. "If we don't take action, who will? This mindset drives us to continue our mission on campus and within the community."

A Legacy of Leadership and Service

As part of The University of Alabama System, UA embodies a commitment to shaping a better world through education, research, and service. With over 200 degree programs and 30 research centers, UA fosters innovation and discovery. As the state's flagship university, it plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and improving lives across Alabama and beyond. UA Miracle exemplifies this dedication, proving that even the smallest gestures can create profound change.
