Diagnosis and Medical Update

It has been confirmed that Phil, now 78 years old, is battling both Alzheimer's disease and a blood disease. According to the doctors, the blood disease has been plaguing him for years and has recently taken a turn for the worse. It is causing various problems throughout his entire body. In addition, he is in the early stages of Alzheimer's, which is adding to his difficulties. Jase shared, "You know, Phil's not doing well. The doctors are certain that this blood disease is causing all kinds of issues." Al added, "It's gotten a lot worse recently. It's like it's accelerated, and it's really taking a toll on him."

Despite his memory loss condition, Phil is still eager to be a part of the podcast. Jase recalled, "But I'm like, 'Well, Phil, you can barely walk around without crying out in pain.' And I was like, 'Your memory is not what it once was.' He's like, 'Tell me about it.' It's clear that he is physically and mentally struggling."

Al also noticed that Phil has good days and bad days. "There'll be some days he's a little better, a little more with you, and other days, not so much." The family is doing their best to make him comfortable and address his memory issues. Jase informed listeners, "We've got a team of doctors, and another set of doctors are looking at all the tests. They all agree that there is no cure for what he has."

The Duck Dynasty Legacy

Phil and his family, a Louisiana clan known for their duck call business, were once the stars of Duck Dynasty. The show ran for 11 seasons on A&E from 2012 to 2017. However, in 2013, A&E briefly suspended Phil after he made homophobic comments in a GQ interview. Despite this setback, Phil continued to make an impact. After the end of Duck Dynasty, he starred in the 2017 digital series In the Woods With Phil.
