DS Automobiles has made a significant announcement regarding its new flagship vehicle, the DS N°8. This exclusively electric SUV-coupe is set to hit the market by the end of 2024 and marks the beginning of a new naming strategy for the French brand, aiming to position itself in the premium segment.

Unveiling the Harmony of DS N°8

DS N°8: A Symbol of Serenity and Equilibrium

The digit 8, with its resemblance to the infinity symbol, is intended to represent balance and tranquility, which together form a harmonious unity. Simultaneously, the name DS N°8 connects the existing model ranges with future vehicles of the brand that will also be named according to this nomenclature. The respective number provides insights into the size and segment of the model.

In addition to the new model names, DS Automobiles has also presented a revised design concept. At the front of the vehicle, the brand logo is prominently displayed, while at the rear, the full inscription "DS Automobiles" appears together with the model designation. The raised "°" in the name is designed like a diamond tip.

Let's take a look at the interior of the DS N°8. A first glance at the cockpit reveals its design. The instrument panel seems to float due to its airy construction. The door trims continue the instrument panel visually and surround the occupants. Integrated speakers of the sound system and a moody ambient lighting enhance the design of the interior.

Technical Insights of DS N°8

DS provided some technical details a few days ago. The new DS model is based on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform. Technically, the newcomer is closely related to the third generation of the Peugeot 3008. For example, there is the Electric 230 version with a 170 kW/230 PS powerful electric drive that, thanks to a 97 kWh large battery, enables a range of around 700 kilometers. With this drive architecture and an aerodynamically optimized body, the DS8 could potentially travel an additional 50 kilometers.
