The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro made its debut only in September. However, it seems that a new model is set to emerge early in 2025. As spotted by @Quadro_News and Notebookcheck, new regulatory filings at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US mention a “DJI Osmo Action 6” (without the “Pro”), strongly indicating the arrival of a new device. Uncover the Mystery of DJI's Upcoming Osmo Action 6
Connectivity and Battery Capacity
The filings reveal some interesting details. The new action camera is listed as supporting Bluetooth 5.1 along with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, which are common features for this type of device and what regulators require. Additionally, two battery capacities are listed - 1,770mAh and 1,950mAh. This might suggest the existence of different models. The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro already has a 1,950mAh battery, so it's possible we'll see both a Pro and a standard DJI Osmo Action 6. The new camera has a lot to live up to as we previously described the latest DJI action camera as “a tiny, versatile camera with some serious creative capabilities” that can rival the “worthy GoPro Hero 13 Black”.Video and Low Light Performance
If we were to be picky, higher video resolutions and improved low light performance would be highly desirable. We're always eager to see enhanced performance and better battery life. Currently, we can only speculate on what DJI has been working on. But the anticipation for this new device is palpable.Quick Launch and Regulatory Compliance
The fact that new regulatory filings were made so soon after the launch of the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro shows that DJI is not wasting any time in getting its next hardware refresh ready. Product launches usually follow FCC filings promptly, and in this case, it seems DJI is ahead of the game. This indicates that they are committed to continuously improving their action camera line and meeting the evolving needs of consumers.
