SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Over the past few years, the Club Car Championship has firmly established itself as a significant event in Savannah and on the Korn Ferry Tour. Now, it holds the prestigious title of Tournament of the Year.
Tournament of the Year: A Premier Event
During tournament week, this championship delivered a first-class experience to all involved. From players and caddies to sponsors, volunteers, fans, and staff, every aspect was handled with utmost care. Through strong charitable efforts, it engaged with the greater Savannah community, raising over $450,000 for various charitable organizations. This seven-year total now stands at more than $1.6 million, showcasing its commitment to making a positive impact.The fan experience was truly impressive, with a variety of activations leading up to and during the week. A 5k, youth clinic, fan zone, and Military Appreciation Day added to the excitement. Additionally, sales efforts within the local and regional business communities saw a 35% year-over-year revenue growth from 2023 to 2024.The title sponsor, Club Car, went above and beyond. It hosted various business activities during tournament week, including a "State of the Business" breakfast and a special pro-am for its guests. Working collaboratively with the tournament on a vendor program, it supported revenue efforts while generating money for charity. In 2024, it became one of seven Korn Ferry Tour events to be televised on Golf Channel, further enhancing its visibility.A strong year-round marketing, public relations, and social media plan was implemented to promote tournament efforts and drive fan engagement. On-site, an elevated hospitality experience was offered, along with clean tournament signage. The volunteer contingent was vast and dependable, with engaged volunteer chairmen well-trained and prepared for competition days.Host Facility of the Year: A Central Role
The Landings Golf & Athletic Club emerged as the winner of the Korn Ferry Tour's first-ever Host Facility of the Year Award. Under the leadership of Executive Director Steven Freund, the entire staff showed incredible passion and was actively involved in every aspect of the tournament.The club played a central role in providing an outstanding experience for players, caddies, title sponsors, and other key constituents. It offered generous hospitality through dining, access to club amenities, and a housing program in partnership with club members. Approximately 90% of the tournament's volunteers were members of The Landings Golf & Athletic Club, highlighting the club's active and engaged membership.In 2024, the club provided additional benefits to caddies through a caddie hat sponsorship. As the presenting sponsor, it also invested in supporting the tournament's television broadcast on Golf Channel.Looking Ahead to 2025
The 2025 Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club will take place from March 31 to April 6 in Savannah, Georgia, at the acclaimed Deer Creek Course.
