The management firm has developed a comprehensive plan to achieve this goal, which includes strategic adjustments to the rental fees and concession pricing.

One of the key initiatives is to address the undercharging of rental fees for tournament operators. "We were undercharging for rent. We did a competitive study, and we feel like we can raise our rents," Pritchett reveals. By aligning the rental rates with industry standards, the city aims to generate additional revenue that can be reinvested into the facilities and the local sports ecosystem.

Expanding the Event Calendar and Enhancing the Fan Experience

In addition to the rental fee adjustments, the management company plans to host three more tournaments annually, further driving the economic impact of the sports complexes. Despite the changes, the City of Portland has ensured that local leagues will continue to access the fields at no cost. "As a requirement by the City of Portland, local leagues will continue to pay a $0 fee to access the fields," explains Nick Hernandez, the president of the Gregory Portland Youth Baseball Association.This commitment to maintaining affordable access for the local community underscores the city's dedication to supporting grassroots sports development and ensuring that the sports complexes remain inclusive and accessible to all.

Streamlining the Scheduling Process

The management company's approach also includes a focus on optimizing the scheduling process for local leagues. "We schedule a year in advance of when we would like to hold our fall ball season, our spring season and tournaments to be held within our league. That way, it helps us out, and it helps them out to optimize the usage of our fields," Hernandez explains.This collaborative scheduling strategy ensures that the sports complexes are utilized efficiently, benefiting both the management company and the local sports organizations.
