Principal Sharon Anderson of New Forest Primary and Infant School in Manchester is firmly emphasizing the crucial role that partnerships and collaborations play in educating the nation's children. With a recent $300,000 donation from alumnus Odale Mulgrave, the school is set to make significant strides in providing a better educational experience for its 497 students.

Odale Mulgrave's Generous Donation

Anderson shared that Odale asked about the school's needs and she mentioned a school sign costing $700,000. Odale not only made a deposit of $300,000 but also committed to matching that amount, handing over his cheque to the school. Mulgrave, citing his sense of responsibility and gratitude, emphasized how the school had provided him with not just academic knowledge but also critical thinking, discipline, and a sense of purpose. He highlighted that the school had offered him foundational education, mentorship, and friendships that were instrumental in his growth.

Mulgrave, a finance guru serving as head of enforcement for the beneficial ownership transparency of legal persons in the Ministry of Financial Service in The Cayman Islands, believes in the power of education and community. His philanthropic efforts are driven by a deep belief in the ripple effect of giving, where one gift can inspire others and create lasting change. He hopes his gift will inspire current and future students to do well and pay it forward.

Moreover, Mulgrave has committed to awarding the top and most improved students at the 2025 graduation ceremony, demonstrating his commitment to the school's legacy.

School's Ongoing Needs

While acknowledging the significance of Mulgrave's contribution, Anderson also highlighted the school's ongoing needs. The next major project is the renovation of the playfield, which aims to nurture students' interest in sports. Two years ago, an estimate of over $2 million was done for a 200-meter track, a cricket pitch, and sections for track and field and football.

Several students are beneficiaries under the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH), and they sometimes require donations for essential items like books, uniforms, and other necessities. Additionally, the school needs assistance with maintenance and upkeep of facilities, including painting the buildings and providing adequate garbage receptacles. Any support from past students is greatly appreciated as it plays a vital role in creating a more conducive learning environment and ensuring students' safety and providing them with the necessary resources to thrive.

Academic Achievements and Success Stories

Anderson proudly highlighted the school's academic achievements, noting that students consistently perform well. She shared a notable success story of a student who was awarded a prestigious seven-year scholarship from a renowned banking institution.

With the right support, New Forest Primary and Infant School is empowered to nurture and shape the country's future leaders and citizens. The school is committed to providing the best possible education and creating a positive impact on the lives of its students.
