BMW has unveiled an exciting upgrade for its M2 model, known as the M Performance Track Kit, designed to sharpen the vehicle's track capabilities without any alterations to its powerful inline-six engine. This innovative kit focuses on enhancing aerodynamics and suspension, drawing directly from BMW's extensive motorsports expertise.

A core aspect of this performance package involves aerodynamic enhancements, including an adaptable front splitter and a rear wing. These elements, inspired by the M4 GT4 and M3 GT3 racing vehicles, are manually adjustable. It is crucial to note that full deployment of these aero components is intended for track use only, with specific modes for public roads and race circuits to optimize their effect. The kit also refines the vehicle's handling through a motorsport-inspired damper setup, offering four-way adjustable rebound and compression damping, alongside adjustable support bearings. This allows for a ride height reduction of up to 0.8 inches (20 millimeters) compared to the standard M2.

Beyond these primary upgrades, the M Performance Track Kit includes non-adjustable wheel arch diffusers and a scoop for the upstream engine oil cooler. Priced at €23,500 (approximately $27,500) before taxes and installation in Germany, this kit provides a comprehensive solution for enthusiasts seeking a more aggressive track experience. Concurrently, an optional lightweight exhaust system, crafted from carbon and titanium, is available for the M2 CS, promising a more assertive engine note and a weight reduction of approximately 17.6 pounds (8 kilograms), priced at €8,343 (nearly $9,800). For those desiring a pure racing machine, the M2 Racing offers a dedicated, non-road-legal option with a smaller four-cylinder engine, emphasizing competition-specific performance and reduced maintenance.
