APD's Christmas Tree Sale Progress
APD is selling a total of 700 trees, with prices ranging from $70 to $175. These trees are transported all the way from Muncy, Pennsylvania. Officer Alex Trapero, who has been volunteering for the nonprofit for nearly 15 years, shared that they have sold about 330 trees so far. They are estimated to close around December 15, or even earlier if they sell out, and he is hopeful for that to happen. For nearly 80 years, during six weeks every summer, up to 150 kids attend the 100-acre APYC camp in Kilmarnock, Virginia, all for free. Trapero, who is also the vice president of the camp's board, mentioned that it costs about $850 per camper and the total effort runs APD about $55,000 every year. The lot is open from 4 to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
