"The Turkish American community is very active. In terms of numbers, there are only a few hundred, but this center is important in bringing people together with Turkish heritage," he explains.Through the annual Turkish Food Festival, the center aims to bridge the gap between the Turkish-American community and the broader population of Central Arkansas. "We are trying to come up with events that are going to help up to integrate more with the American culture," he says.Beyond the delectable dishes and festive atmosphere, the festival serves as a powerful tool for promoting peace, diversity, and multiculturalism. Mehmet Ulupinar emphasizes the center's goal of building bridges between different communities, particularly in a time when the world faces various challenges. "Now our goal here is to build bridges, among different communities. So, right now, in our world, we need a lot of bridges because there's a lot going on in different parts of the world. Our goal is to promote peace, diversity, multiculturalism and to show that we can come together around common values," he explains.
