A remarkable display unfolded at the 2025 USA Boxing International Open in Pueblo, Colorado, where Lancaster's Jerimiah Munoz took on Kyrgyzstan's seasoned fighter Munarbek Seitbek Uulu, a silver medalist from the 2024 Summer Olympics. Despite not securing the victory, Munoz demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience during the three-round final bout, ultimately losing by a split decision.

Munoz, an 18-year-old athlete competing in the elite men’s division for the first time, trains under Coach Will Torres at the Lancaster City Boxing Club. Competing at 132 pounds, he advanced through three victories in this event before facing off against Seitbek Uulu. Although Munoz anticipated that his opponent had an edge, he approached the match with unwavering determination. His performance in the opening round showcased his ability to hold his ground, but a point deduction in the second round due to excessive holding placed him at a disadvantage, which he couldn't overcome in the final round.

Torres expressed immense pride in Munoz's adherence to their strategic game plan, noting the significant challenge posed by an opponent with extensive international experience. The duo meticulously prepared by studying Seitbek Uulu's fighting style through videos of his previous matches. Their preparation focused on anticipating his sweeping right hook and aggressive use of body weight when frustrated. Throughout the match, both fighters engaged intensely, with moments of entanglement overshadowing clean boxing exchanges. In the concluding round, despite receiving a warning for holding, Seitbek Uulu retained his points advantage. Nevertheless, Munoz's performance highlighted his potential and readiness to embrace challenging opportunities, proving that he belongs in the elite ranks of boxing.
