The excitement of high school football continues to build as three talented athletes from the York-Adams League have been chosen to participate in the prestigious Pennsylvania East/West All-Star Games. Tyler Frey and Cameron Gates, both from Central York High School, will represent the West team in the Large School game, while Luke Goldhahn from Bermudian Springs will join the West squad for the Small School contest. These games are set to take place on Sunday, May 18, at Chapman Field in Mechanicsburg.
In addition to the all-star selections, Dover's head coach Wayne Snelbaker will contribute his expertise to the coaching staff for the Large School game. The players' accomplishments highlight their exceptional skills on the field. Frey, a versatile linebacker for Central York, was named D-I Defensive Player of the Year with an impressive tally of 105 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and multiple recoveries and interceptions. He has committed to play strong safety at Bloomsburg University. Gates, also bound for Bloomsburg, made significant contributions as a first-year starting cornerback, helping limit the opposition's passing yards to just 82 per game. Meanwhile, Goldhahn, a standout lineman, signed with Susquehanna University after leading Bermudian Springs to its first district title since 1998.
The selection of these players not only recognizes their individual achievements but also underscores the strength and tradition of football within the York-Adams League. It highlights the dedication and hard work of these young athletes who have earned the opportunity to showcase their talents on a broader stage. Their participation in these all-star games serves as an inspiration to future generations of players, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and excellence in sports.
