Achieving a significant milestone, the Georgia Tech men's basketball team is set to participate in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) for the first time in four years. As the fourth seed, they will take on Jacksonville State in the opening round at McCamish Pavilion this Tuesday evening. The highly anticipated game will air nationally on ESPN2.

This marks the 27th post-season appearance in the storied history of Georgia Tech basketball and their tenth NIT participation. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout the season, including key player injuries, the Yellow Jackets have managed an impressive overall record of 17-16. They secured eighth place in the ACC standings with a 10-10 conference record, earning a bye in the ACC Tournament's first round for the first time since 2021. Their journey saw them triumph over Virginia before succumbing to Duke in the quarterfinals.

The path forward promises excitement as the winner of the matchup between Georgia Tech and Jacksonville State advances to face either UC Irvine or Northern Colorado in the second round. Notable performances by senior guard Lance Terry, sophomores Baye Ndongo and Naithan George, along with junior Duncan Powell, underscore the team's resilience and talent. These athletes have navigated through adversity to contribute significantly to the squad's success.

Beyond the court, the Georgia Tech athletics department continues its ambitious "Full Steam Ahead" fundraising campaign aimed at elevating facilities and resources across all sports programs. With renewed vigor and strategic planning, the Yellow Jackets look to build upon this season's momentum. This participation in the NIT symbolizes not just a return to competitive play but also highlights the program's enduring spirit and commitment to excellence within collegiate athletics.
