The Prairie city of Brandon is gearing up to host the Western Canadian Nationals Car Show, an eagerly anticipated event that showcases a stunning array of classic and vintage vehicles. Scheduled for August 2-3, this year's exhibition promises to be a grand affair, with organizers expecting over 800 cars to grace the Keystone Centre grounds. The show, previously known as Super Run, has undergone a name change to attract more participants from across Canada.

A key aspect of ensuring the success of this large-scale event is the recruitment of volunteers. Dave Burba, one of the organizers and president of the local car club Road Rebels, emphasizes the importance of volunteer support. "We're aiming for at least 100 volunteers," he said, noting that they will work in two-hour shifts to prevent burnout. Volunteers are needed for various tasks, including registration, parking assistance, raffle sales, managing food and souvenir booths, organizing accommodations, and overseeing on-site activities. The enthusiasm surrounding the event is palpable, especially after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

This year’s edition not only brings back the tradition but also introduces new elements to engage both enthusiasts and newcomers. Mike Hall, a well-known figure in the automotive restoration community, will be present to meet attendees and present his first-ever award for his favorite vehicle. Additionally, there will be awards for people's choice, best hotrod, and standout models from different manufacturers. Beyond the accolades, the event aims to foster a community of car lovers and inspire younger generations to appreciate classic automobiles. Pre-event activities, such as Cruise Night on July 31, will kick off the festivities, offering a preview of the excitement to come.
