Esteemed figures in the world of music are set to be celebrated in a landmark event dedicated to their contributions. The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is welcoming four remarkable talents—Daniel Johnston, Cam Mullins, Jeff Stevens, and the legendary Womack Brothers, also known as The Valentinos. Their induction signifies not only their impact on the local scene but also their influence on the broader musical landscape.
A highlight of the upcoming celebration will be the tenth annual ceremony, which promises an unforgettable evening filled with performances and tributes. Scheduled for April 12 at Charleston's Culture Center Theater, this sold-out gala brings together some of the biggest names in music. Among the performers are Luke Bryan, Jeff Tweedy from Wilco, Kathy Mattea, Tim O’Brien, Ann Magnuson, Larry Groce, John Ellison, Lionel Carwright, Bob Thompson, Barbara Nissman, Michael Cerveris, Greg Blake, and Friendly Womack Jr. alongside The Womack Sisters. Each artist will honor the legacy of the new inductees through their artistry.
The ceremony’s hosts, Ray Benson and Juliana Soltis, bring unique perspectives to the occasion. Benson, founder of Asleep at the Wheel, will present the Spirit Award, underscoring his deep connection to West Virginia's rich musical heritage. Meanwhile, Soltis, a classical cellist hailing from Charleston, WV, adds another layer of sophistication to the program. This gathering serves as a reminder that creativity knows no bounds and continues to inspire future generations, fostering unity among diverse communities through shared cultural experiences.
