This weekend, motorists in Houston should prepare for significant traffic disruptions as construction activities impact major highways. The city's transportation infrastructure will undergo maintenance and upgrades, leading to lane closures and detours on key routes. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys carefully and allow extra time for travel.

The Gulf Freeway (I-45) will see substantial changes over the weekend. Two inbound lanes between Spur 5/Calhoun and Cullen will be closed from Friday evening until early Monday morning. Additionally, the entrance ramp from Spur 5/Calhoun will also be inaccessible during this period. Motorists are encouraged to use Highway 288 as an alternative route to bypass these closures.

Meanwhile, the Katy Freeway (I-10) will experience its own set of closures. Both the westbound entrance ramp from Studemont and the westbound exit ramp to Heights Boulevard will be shut down for the duration of the weekend. These ramps are expected to reopen by Monday morning, just in time for the morning rush hour.

While these inconveniences may cause temporary delays, they contribute to the long-term improvement of Houston's roadways. Such projects aim to enhance safety and efficiency for all travelers. By enduring short-term challenges, we pave the way for a better future with smoother and safer roads for everyone.
