Elevating the Artistic Landscape in Lewisburg

Embracing the Diversity of Artistic Voices

The "Visual Voices" exhibition at the Artists & Artisans-Cooperative Gallery in Lewisburg is a testament to the power of collaboration and the richness of artistic expression. The gallery, which opened its doors in April 2023, is the result of a collaboration between 14 experienced and award-winning artists who share a vision of showcasing their creations in the heart of Lewisburg. The diverse array of mediums on display, including ceramics, jewelry, paintings, photographs, prints, fiber arts, and wood turnings, reflects the multifaceted talents of the gallery's members.

Exploring the Depths of Hand-Pulled Prints and Handmade Paper

At the forefront of the exhibition are the hand-pulled prints on handmade paper by artist Sandy Davis. Davis, a fine art printmaker, has honed her craft over the years, specializing in original prints and monotypes on handmade papers from around the world. Her work is a testament to the power of the visual voice, as she not only showcases her own artistic expression but also celebrates the voices of the indigenous communities whose handmade papers she utilizes. Each piece in the exhibition is a unique blend of Davis' artistic vision and the rich cultural heritage of the materials she employs.

Sculpting Intimate Moments in the Natural World

Complementing the hand-pulled prints is the captivating work of E. Richard Bonham, a medallic sculptor and member of the American Medallic Sculpture Association and the Fédération Internationale de la Médaille d'art. Bonham's hand-cast pewter sculptures offer a unique perspective on the natural world, capturing fleeting moments and suggesting biomes rather than simply replicating individual plants and animals. His work, which has been featured in exhibitions across the United States, Europe, and Asia, invites viewers to explore the hidden depths and intricate details of the natural realm.

Fostering Community Engagement and Appreciation

The Artists & Artisans-Cooperative Gallery's commitment to engaging with the local community is evident in their upcoming exhibition schedule. Following the "Visual Voices" show, the gallery will host a "Thank You" exhibit from October 10 to November 9, featuring pieces inspired by or connected to the Lewisburg community. This gesture of gratitude underscores the gallery's desire to build strong ties with the people who have supported their vision and celebrated their artistic endeavors. As the year draws to a close, the gallery will present a Members Holiday Show from November 14 to December 28, offering art enthusiasts the opportunity to discover unique and thoughtful gifts created by the talented artists of the cooperative. This diverse and dynamic exhibition schedule reflects the gallery's dedication to fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community in Lewisburg.
